PRIVADO

Q&A with Founder of Privado Eyewear, Laura Hynoski

Can you tell us about your artistic background and how you got started in

your chosen medium?
I had always had a passion for sunglasses since as long as I can remember. I
believe that the eyes are the entrance to our soul, therefore, sunglasses provide
us with a shield of privacy and mystery, hence why I named my brand Privado
which is Spanish for Private. We are all unique with a unique vision. Uniqueness
to me is mysterious. Therefore when we discover our uniqueness we are
maintaining our mystery. Hence our tagline “Maintain Your Mystery.”

What themes or concepts inspire your work?
I am a seeker of truth, therefore I believe that true vision about how our universe
and world works should be a concept incorporated into the eyewear industry. I
find it not a coincidence that I launched my brand in April 2020. April being my
birth month and 2020 the world’s knowledge of clear vision.

Can you walk us through your creative process, from idea to finished piece?
When I first received the idea, I conducted 2 years of research in the eyewear
industry. I collected information on the type of materials and lenses that were
being used for high end eyewear brands. I took all this information and I
incorporated it into a beautiful package that could be sold at a price that can be
affordable to almost every consumer. I believe that quality and durability should
be accessible to all.

Are there any particular artists or art movements that have influenced your
work?
No, I get my inspiration from my personal life experiences and our natural world.

Can you describe a particularly challenging project you've worked on, and how
you overcame any obstacles?
I would say the most challenging project I have ever worked on is the creation of
my own brand from scratch, there is so much uncertainty but you cannot fear it,
because it is through uncertainty that our universe expands. The challenges and
obstacles is what have made me stronger and created motivation for me to
continue moving forward.

How has your art evolved over time, and where do you see it going in the
future?
For the past 3 years after I launched in 2020, I have been building the foundation
of my brand. The foundation of a business/brand is the most important part to
focus on in the beginning. If you don’t have a strong foundation, the empire you
envision will not hold strong. I believe that I am a pioneer for a new concept that
will merge into the eyewear industry.

Can you speak to any recurring motifs or symbols that appear in your work?
The essence of my brand is wisdom and true vision by creating a perfect blend
between the physical and quantum world. This is reflected by our owl logo which
symbolizes wisdom and clear vision. It is also reflected in our name Privado
which is Spanish for Private. To me sunglasses offer us a private shield to our
uniqueness. Allowing us to protect the windows to our unique souls.

How do you balance maintaining your own artistic vision with client demands
or project constraints?
When you follow the path of least resistance which is the path the universe
follows, you can then understand that there are no constraints or client demands
that can interfere in the way I balance my work. When we operate from the heart
and from our truth, nothing can interfere.

What do you hope viewers take away from experiencing your art?
I wish them to see the world for what it truly is. A world based on their perception.
Meaning, what we see of the world is merely a reflection of what we hold inside.
Empowering humanity through the wisdom of self is what I offer.

Can you share any upcoming projects or exhibitions that you're excited
about?
I am excited for my brand as a whole, As I come to understand that everything is
energy. I prefer to keep my moves in silence until they are complete.

What was your favorite part about The CAVE?
The Cave is a very unique and spacious studio, I absolutely enjoyed all the high
tech incorporated into the studio when it comes to lighting + audio. The infinity
wall was my favorite part. My team had an amazing experience during our
brand’s photoshoot and we will definitely be working with the Cave again for
future projects.

For me growing up I never really had much of an artistic background. I was always just a huge lover and fan of all different types of music. It wasn’t until Highschool when I decided to give writing my first song a try.
